Appointed Music Director of The Syracuse Orchestra

Austin has been named the new Music Director for The Syracuse Orchestra. He will begin his tenure in the 26-27 season:


2026 Mahler Competition - Finalist

Austin has been named a finalist in the 2026 Mahler Competition. He will travel to Bamberg, Germany in June to compete and conduct the Bamberger Symphoniker.

Austin jumps in to conduct The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra’s Vietnam tour.

The JCSO travels to Vietnam to perform as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States of America. Austin conducts the orchestra in a program of American, Vietnamese, and popular music showcasing and connecting the two cultures.

Austin’s New Edition of William Grant Still’s Wood Notes premieres with The Philadelphia Orchestra

As part of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s project of restoring and rebuilding works by American composer William Grant Still, Austin’s new edition of the original version of Wood Notes will be premiered, October 30th - November 2nd, in Marian Anderson Hall and Carnegie Hall as part of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Subscription series. This edition includes the lost 5th movement of the original work and adheres to Still’s manuscripts, sketches, and edits.
